Applecross Roastery is super excited to introduce our first ever Festive Roast, Guatemala La Bolsa. This amazing coffee is grown by the award winning Jorge Vides on his farm, Finca La Bolsa. The farm sits between two mountains which provide a stable, humid microclimate. Coffee Care funded the construction of a school and nursery on the farm, staffed with fully trained, full-time teachers. All temporary and permanent staff have access to schooling for their children, and they are incentivized to leave their children at school or nursery through a food donation program. When a child attends school or nursery for five consecutive days, the family receives a weekly supply of rice, beans, and corn.
This stunning single origin offering benefits from being grown in limestone-rich soil which gives the coffee a unique profile with a rich, syrupy body and plenty of malic and citric acidity. In the cup, this coffee oozes all the flavours of Christmas with notes of chocolate orange, praline and treacle. This coffee works really well in all brewing methods so whether you like a nice thick gooey espresso with plenty of crema or a nice sweet and flavourful cup of filter, then this is the coffee for you.
